Time with Great Grandma Helen

Carter got to spend a little bit of time with Great Grandma Helen while we were home for Thanksgiving. I love that the two of them can spend as much time as possible together. We can't wait to see her again soon.

Cousins

For the first time, Carter was able to meet all of his first cousins. I think he was a hit with them. He was able to hang out with his second and third cousins too. We are very thankful for all of them and hope we can see them a lot more.

Carter shocked that Isla just gives him a kiss and leaves (although I guess that is a good thing since they are cousins). : )

Thanksgiving Part 2

More pics

There was lots of 4-wheeler time with Grandpa,

and hay bale jumping, and lots of eating at the table (in the high chair Grandma Bonnie used when she was little),windy pictures,
and sunny pictures, grandkid time with Great Grandma Helen,Scott taking on the kids in Wii,

and finally one more of the whole group. We had a fun filled couple of days with everyone!

Thanksgiving Part 1

We were definitely looking forward to Thanksgiving this year. It worked out that everyone in the family could come in for the holiday, including all of the Helmicks. We went up to Grandma Helen's on both Thursday and Friday and were able to spend a lot of time together. Having all of us there was a little crazy, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Since we were all there, we attempted to take some group pictures and candid shots of everyone. It was a VERY windy and VERY sunny day. Also factor in hunger, sleepiness, etc from all the little ones, and it made for a slightly difficult photo shoot. Trevor agreed to be our photographer and he did a great job. Despite all the craziness, he managed to get some good shots. More pics to come in additional posts.

EIGHT Months Old

Carter you are EIGHT months old. Where has the time gone. Things are changing every day and it is amazing to watch you.

Carter at eight months you:

-are probably around or little over 20lbs now and getting longer. We are not sure of the exact numbers because you haven't been to the doctor but we will find out next month.
-have some cute little toes sticking out of a few PJs which is why we know you are getting longer. :)
-are still in a size 3 diaper. You could probably move up but don't quite have to yet.
-are wearing mostly 9mth or 6-12mth clothes now (depending on the brand), but they are starting to get small.
-still have bright blue eyes.
-have some more hair. The hair on the back of your head is really growing in since you are not just laying on your back all the time now.
-still reach for EVERYTHING.
-love to bang things.
-can be very loud.
-have two more teeth coming in, the top two front ones. This will make a total of four.
-are still rolling all over the place and are perfecting which way to roll to get to what you want.
-love pulling your socks off and then grabbing your feet.
-are getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. Every once in a while you can "hop/propel" yourself forward. We have a feeling crawling is just around the corner.
-eating different types of food now. We haven't found anything you don't like yet.
-are drinking through a straw.
-smile at just about anything.
-laugh at random words
-make your daddy and I smile and laugh about you all the time!

Also, just a little comparison of Carter at 2, 4, 6 and 8 months old (all on the same blanket). Crazy how much change has occurred.

Game Day

Carter was able to sport his Broncos hoodie, and coordinating football socks, for the Thursday night game. Since there was no other competing game on, no decisions about which team to support had to be made. He was in bed by the time the game ended, but the Broncos did pull it off, in their own special way. You can tell though, from the look on Carter's face in the one picture, that he was as shocked as everyone else in town. :) Now on to Monday night when he will be cheering for his other team, although it might be a rough night!

The New "Playpen"

Carter has taken many rides in a laundry basket since he was first born. It has always been easier to put laundry in the basket, lay him on top and bring everything down from upstairs instead of trying to carry each in an arm at the same time. We haven't been able to do this as much since he is bigger and squirmy now, but it should come as no surprise that Carter likes to sit in the laundry basket and play with his toys. He can bang them, which is one of his favorite things lately, as much as he wants. I am sure it won't last long, but for now, it is the new "playpen".

Fall Chores

Carter and I had a day at home together, so we worked on some chores around the house. One of the chores was raking the leaves in the front yard. Carter watched from his jumper most of the time, but then decided he would sit in the leaves to play a little...and maybe try a leaf out for snack, which quickly ended the photo shoot in the leaves.
