First Solids

Solid foods have started and there is no turning back now. Carter is definitely ready for more food. He is very interested in everything we eat and wants to try it too. Although he has had a couple bites of things here and there, we hadn't truly started giving him solids until now. We waited until he was 6mths old to try and avoid any allergies he might be prone too. Scott had allergies when he was little and we want to stay away from as many of those as possible.

Because of the allergy factor, we started with rice cereal and are moving forward from there. Although there were some funny faces to start, Carter really likes it. We will start introducing one food at a time after this. Next up is oatmeal and then some vegetables. Hopefully, we can just make his food ourselves and won't have to buy any jarred baby food. We will see.

SIX Months Old

Carter is SIX months old. We can't believe it is already your half birthday. Where has the time gone! Six months has gone by so fast! Seems like I was just pregnant.

Carter at six months you:

-weigh 18lbs, 13.6oz (75th percentile).
-are 26.5 inches long (45th percentile).
-have a head circumference of 44.8cm (95th percentile).
-have started to have slight stranger anxiety. It takes a little bit for you to make sure someone is okay.
-are still in a size 3 diaper.
-are wearing 6mths or 6-9mths clothes although, the things that are straight 6 months are getting small.
-still have blue eyes.
-have more hair. It has grown on top a lot lately. The bald spot in the back is still trying to catch up.
-reach for EVERYTHING. You want anything in range, especially drinks.
-still just have two teeth.
-are still using your scream to get peoples attention, and it is sometimes ear piercing.
-have the cutest laugh.
-can sit up but still have some slight balance issues.
-can roll over like crazy.
-have some serious rolls as evidenced by your pictures at the doctor's office.
-got four shots plus a liquid one at your appointment and did very well!
-have just started solid foods and love them. You started with rice cereal and we are moving forward slowly from there. We want to avoid any allergies.

You are getting so big!

A Boy and His Dog

Since the first day Carter came home from the hospital, Eddie has not really cared too much about him. Recently, however, Eddie seems to be a little more interested. He is constantly walking up to Carter and licking him on his feet, hands, face or whatever is in range. He also will sit next to him to stay close...except when Carter is being loud. If he is loud, Eddie just gets up and walks away. Couldn't resist snapping these pictures the other night of the two of them at the front door. I have a feeling it will be a very interesting relationship in the future, most likely based heavily on food.

Split Personality

As mentioned before, Carter has to live in a split household. Since this is the case, his wardrobe is a little spastic. In order to cheer and support both teams, both have to be represented. As evidenced by the pictures below though, he seems pretty happy and not bothered by it much.

Heartbreaker

As his shirt says, I think he might be a little bit of a heartbreaker.

He thinks he needs to have everything, including the camera. Also, we love the flat smile face!

This junior ranger is ready to go on patrol with Uncle Steve...at least his hat says so.

Perfect Little Package

This might be the cutest little package ever...which is a good thing because he doesn't think sleeping much at night is lately. Not that you can tell though, because his disposition is just as happy and smiley as ever during the day.

And on this farm he had a...

It is ALWAYS a great time hanging out with Great Grandma Helen at the farm. We were able to go up and spend some quality time with her this trip. Great Grandma made us some excellent food, as usual. Carter will probably be able to taste some of it at Thanksgiving, but was only able to naw on some celery this time.

I hope, in the future, Carter will be able to play at the farm with his cousins, just like I did with mine. This time though, he hung out on the tractor and the hay bales by himself. He also hung out with Great Grandma Helen as much as possible.

Playing with Grandpa Joe

Grandpa Joe has been an excellent horsey ride provider for many years and now Carter gets to experience it also. More fun in Kansas City.

Royals Game

We were able to make another trip to Kansas City. It was a fast trip, but great as usual. While we were there, Carter was able to head out to another Major League baseball game. He got to see his first Royals game.

Aunt Tasha provided him with the necessary wardrobe. He decided to try out the "trasher" look before we left, but decided against it and put a shirt on also.

Kansas City has a huge jumbotron, so Carter definitely loved that. It rained a little on us, but once it cleared it was a beautiful night. The Royals won and it was a great way to spend the evening.
