The Visit and Flight Home...Kansas City Part 3 of 3

We were able to spend 5 days at Grandma and Grandpa's house while everyone else headed to Indy this year. It was wonderful to get lots of time with Grandma, Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen. Grandpa headed to Indy, so we only saw him for a little bit, but we will definitely catch him next time. This isn't the best picture of the 4 generations, but I don't have the others ones loaded yet.

After a wonderful trip home to Kansas City, it was time for us to head back to Denver. It was so great to be there, but very sad to leave. We will definitely miss being close to Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen. Because we had a one way ride to Kansas City in the RV, we flew back to Denver. It was our first airplane trip. Scott was in Indy and flying back on a different flight, so it was Carter and I on our own. Our flights lined up time-wise, so we all met at the airport in Denver.

I was a little nervous to take Carter on his first airplane trip alone. After getting through security, we found out our flight was going to be delayed an hour and a half. It wasn't how we planned it, but it worked out very well. Carter was able to eat before we left and then slept the entire flight. It was better than I had expected, but I should have known because he is always such a good baby. You can tell from the pics below that he was awake looking around before we took off and the minute we started taxiing he fell asleep and slept through the whole flight. Hopefully all flights in the future will be the same.

Trip to Columbia...Kansas City Part 2 of 3

While Carter and I were in Kansas City we were able to take a day trip to Columbia, MO to meet up with Jennie, Scott, Lucy and Sam. We had not seen them forever so we decided to meet in the middle while Carter and I were in Kansas City. I am so glad we did. It was great to see them and hang out, even it was just for a little bit. We all definitely need to live closer together.

Sam and Carter are about 4 weeks apart. Jennie's parents, who live in Columbia, got them matching outfits. Obviously, we had to take some pictures. Lucy did not want to be in the pictures, so we will have to get one of her with the boys next time. I hope they will all be great friends in the future and we hope we can see the Iversons again very soon!

A ride in the RV...Kansas City Part 1 of 3

Carter I headed to Kansas City this weekend, in the RV, with Tom, Ann, Sarah and Sally. They were all headed to Indy for the 500 and we hitched a ride across Kansas. Scott was still working and wasn't able to meet them until Friday. He flew out to Chicago and then met them all in Indy on Saturday.

Carter did great on the ride. He got to help drive some of the way and was able to relax a little too, as evidenced by the pictures below. We did half the first day and stayed the night in Russell, KS. The second day, we made it the rest of the way to Kansas City. Carter and I were able to stay in Kansas City for the holiday weekend while everyone else was at the race. We were able to visit a lot of with Grandma, Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen. We were also able to see Kate, Shelley and meet up with the Iversons in Columbia, MO. It was great.

TWO Months Old

Today, Carter turned 2 months old. It is crazy how fast time is going. I feel like we were just at the hospital getting ready to go home.

At 2 months old Carter, you:

-- Weigh 12 pounds, 7 ounces.
-- Are 22 1/2 inches long.
-- Are wearing size 1 diapers.
-- Are in 3 month (although quickly moving out of these) or 3-6 month clothes.
-- Are sleeping about 4-5 hour stretches at night.
-- Are so alert and when you are awake you are constantly busy. Your arms and legs are constantly moving.
-- Are smiling all the time, especially when people talk to you. You are becoming very social.
-- Are so close to laughing. It won't be long.
-- Can roll from your stomach to your back, even if it is an accident most of the time. :)
-- Love your Binkie and so do we!
-- Are quite the traveler and have done great on the car trips we have already taken.
-- Had your 2 month doctor's appointment and did GREAT. You are right where you are supposed to be developmentally etc.. You had three shots and one liquid vaccination. You only cried for about 10 seconds after you got your shots.
-- Are still such a happy baby and pretty mellow (as evidenced by your quick recovery after the shots)

Here are a few two month pictures and a couple from the 2 month doctor's appointment. The second one is right after getting the shots.

A Weekend at the Cabin

Carter went for his first weekend trip to the cabin. This will be the first of many, I am sure. He did great, although he decided sleeping wasn't his favorite thing to do there. I think he knew it is better to just hang out, talk to people and play Trivial Pursuit -- as evidenced by him already being involved in the tradition. It was still a little chilly during the day, so we didn't get to hang out on the deck, but we did get a walk in around the lake.

Monograms

Carter's first monogrammed outfit. You can see from the one picture that he is very active lately. Unless he is asleep, his arms are always moving!

Rockies Day

Today, Scott, Sarah, Carter and I went to Carter's first baseball game. Carter was all decked out in his Rockies gear.

He did great at the game. He slept through most of it, but then was up and just looking around at everything happening around him. The weather was not great, a little chilly, but not too bad. It has been rainy here lately. Thankfully it held off during the game. We are going to have to find another game to go to sometime soon when the weather is a little better.

We tried to find a Rockies hat for Carter at the stadium but all they had were pink and blue hats for babies. In this house, we do not go for the different colored gear than the team so, we are now on the hunt for a Rockies hat for his next game. He will definitely have to have something on his head because his Irish genes definitely come through in his skin color. For this game, he ended up having to wear his sports hat during the game and his hat from Jennie on the way to the game. He has about outgrown these however, so new hats are definitely in store.

It was a great day, even though the Rockies lost, and we can't wait to go to many more.

One of many smiles to come

This is the view from here lately. Carter is definitely perfecting this. It is something that brightens our day.
He has also really started to "talk" and interact. There are new things all the time.

Mother's Day

A few pictures of Carter from Mother's Day. This outfit only lasted a little bit before we had to have a wardrobe change. Jennie's parents sent this to Carter and it seemed like a good outfit for Mother's Day...even if it didn't last very long. :)
This was my first Mother's Day and it was wonderful. It was a little weird to think about though. I can't believe I am a mom. It is a great feeling and not one I would trade for anything. Every day makes me smile and I know there are a lot more to come.
The three of us went to lunch at The Tavern in DTC. It was a gorgeous day so we sat on the patio and enjoyed lunch. After lunch, we headed home and just hung out. Scott also treated me to a spa day that I am going to use very soon. I couldn't have asked for more.

First Trip to KC

Because we are crazy, the weekend after we drove a total of 10 hours to Garden City, we decided we should drive a total of 18+ hours to Kansas City. It was a fast trip and we were tired when we got home but definitely worth it. We wanted to go so Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen could meet Carter for the first time. It also allowed Carter to see grandma and grandpa again.
We also had some friends from college in town that we were able to hang out with and see.
