Boston Red Sox

Ft. Myers, Florida is home to spring training for the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox.  Last time we were in Ft. Myers we went to a Twins game, so this time we hit up a Red Sox game.  Crazy enough, we needed jackets and it was pretty cool in the shade.  We checked to make sure we were still in Florida.

 

 

After sitting up in the stands, in what we thought would be perfect seats in the shade, we headed down to the outfield to find a little sun.  I am positive that had we gotten seats in the outfield originally, it would have been about 120 degrees. :)

The way the stadium was set up, many of the foul balls would go up on the roof and you could hear them roll down.  Carter was convinced he was going to catch one if he stood in the right place.

 

Scott decided to just buy a ball at the stadium and drop it right where Carter thought it would fall.  He did and Carter thought it was the greatest thing ever.  He had caught a ball off the roof!

 

 

 

After scoring a pretty nice baseball, there was a stop for a little pitching practice before watching the rest of the game.

 

The outfield was warmer and allowed Carter to stretch out, and pretty much take over the space around him.

 

 

 

We had a great day.

 

 

 

But, it was exhausting. :)

 



Bunche Beach

Shockingly, day three of vacation took us to the beach. :)  We went to a less populated beach called Bunche Beach.  It is more of a "locals" beach and it was perfect for Carter. 

There were lots of shells for him to inspect, sand to move, castles to build and things to find.

Another Day at the Beach

We woke up on Day 2 of vacation to rain.  From the second Carter woke up, he asked when we were going to the beach.  We waited for the rain to stop a little, but really couldn't deny him a trip to the beach since we promised.

We headed down to Ft. Myers Beach and got our choice of free parking, since no one else was really down there. :)  Carter didn't care though and was ready to get out of the car.

We put up the umbrella and played on the beach in the rain.  Carter moved shell after shell and worked hard while there.  He even found a starfish.  His lips turned a little blue and he shivered in his towel while eating a picnic lunch on the beach, but he didn't want to leave.  We indulged him for a little bit, but then decided he needed to warm up.  Carter disagreed.

 

 

 

 

 

After getting warmed up and a nap at the RV, we went over to visit Grandma Ann's cousins, Mary and Richard.  Carter was thrilled because he got to help drive the golf cart to drop off the trash.  Perfect day for a three year old.

 

 

 

Vacation Time!

This is what a three year old looks like, with a layover on a trip that we have been telling him all about, and the airport looks nothing like what we have promised him.

 

Thankfully, although we had a small layover, we got to Ft. Myers Beach, FL early enough that we could still make a trip down to the beach after a nap and dinner.  A lot of sand was loaded up and moved and loaded up again.  He would have stayed all night.  We had to explain that we would come back again. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

THREE Years Old

Well, here we are at 3 and you change every day.  Each day brings a new challenge or frustration from all of us.  You are the funniest kid and now that you are talking more, the things you say just crack us up.  The last year went by fast and it is so crazy to look back at pictures and see how much you have changed.  The change isn't all physical though.  You are becoming a little boy.  It is crazy.

Carter at THREE years old you:

-weigh 35lbs, 4oz (80th percentile)
-are 37.5 inches tall (45th percentile)
-have no more head measuring. :)
-have a new bump, bruise or scratch everyday.
-wear pull-ups and we are gearing up to start potty training.
-are wearing 3T and some 4T clothes.
-wear size 8 shoes.
-love to sit and read your books with daddy and I.  You negotiate each night before bed how many we should read.  It is hard not to let you pick as many as you would like.
-are talking a lot now.
-have a definite independence streak going on right now.  It causes a lot of frustration on both sides.  :)
-still have your lion and blanket, and don't go far without them.
-are quite the baseball player, but will play almost any sport.  You love to have someone pitch to you and hit the ball.  We can't really play in our smaller backyard anymore because you constantly hit it over the fence.
-still take after your mom and love fruit.
-have quite the personality, which is coming out more and more lately. 

...And so ends the third year of your life.  As always, we love you and can't imagine life without you!

And, just for comparison sake, year one and year two.  CRAZY!

Birthday Present???

Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie left Wednesday morning after a great visit, and a couple days later we drove across Kansas to go to their house.  We were headed to Florida for spring break and found much cheaper flights out of KC than Denver.  It worked out well though because we were able to head up to the farm on the way back. 

It is a good thing Carter's birthday party was the week before though, because for his actual birthday he got a 9 hour drive.  Nothing says happy birthday like a drive across Kansas.
