Around Town

One of Carter's favorite places in town is the Children's Museum.  Carter took Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie there to show them all the things he could do including the workshop, bubbles, painting and shooting off rockets.  He could stay there all day if it wasn't for the mass amount of kids that are always there when we are.  Thankfully, on this day, we got there early and were just finishing up before the giant school group descended on everything.

 

 

 

Estes Park

We made the trek up to Rocky Mountain National Park while Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie were in town.  However, the drive took a little longer than expected.  We were almost there when we found out part of the highway in to Estes Park was closed that day.  They were doing some road repair where the floods, earlier in the season, had gone through.  By the time we got there, Carter was ready to be out of the car.

Bear Lake was colder than I was expecting but, since we made the LONG drive up, we headed out to look at the lake. 

It was still frozen over and had quite a bit of snow.  The wind was blowing making it pretty cold as well, as evidenced by everyone's face.

Someone had built a snowman all the way out in the middle of the lake, and Carter convinced Grandma Bonnie to walk all the way out with him.

 

Another great day with the grandparents, and Carter even got to throw a few snowballs.

 

 

Third Birthday Party

The time had come for another birthday for Carter.  Carter was quick to respond when asked what kind of birthday party he wanted to have...Curious George!  He loves Curious George right now.

Since we aim to please around here (while he is three :) ), a Curious George party was born.  We also decided that he didn't need more toys, etc for his birthday.  Still aiming to please, right?  Instead of doing regular gifts, we decided to get him a fish tank and have everyone, if they so chose, just get him a decoration or fish for his tank.  

 

 

 

 

 

The fish tank birthday present, and lots of décor and fish to go in it from everyone, was a huge hit.  And having family there, including Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie, made it a great day.

 

 

 

Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie Visit

Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie made a trip out to Colorado to visit us and celebrate Carter's 3rd birthday.  Carter loved it and we loved having them.  We made sure to do all kinds of fun things with them.

 

 

Let's Ride

Since the weather was finally a little nicer, we took Carter's 4-wheeler to dinner at Aunt Gayla and Uncle Dan's one Sunday.  We were there a little early, so before everyone else got there, we took a walk down one of the nice paths by their house.

 

 

After that, Carter showed everyone how it worked and gave out rides and instructions.  Tatum looks slightly concerned about her driver.

My Gym

One of the little kid gyms near the house, My Gym, had a free try-it-out Saturday class for three year olds.  We took Carter to see how he would like it.  He loved it, had no hesitation running right in and had no fear trying any of the things available.  The class was set up so the kids had some free time to chose what they wanted, like a trampoline, ball pit, ladder wall, etc. and, organized play with the two instructors.  Carter did a great job following the rules and waiting his turn.  All was good and he thoroughly enjoyed it until after class when one of the other kids punched him in the arm.  He was totally confused by what had taken place and we had to explain about the little boy not being nice.  So, not only fun for him, but also life lesson learned.  :)
