Let the Fun Begin

Day 1 of Creede brought lots of...

bug watching (Carter had everyone on it);

baseball on the front lawn;

and, just general relaxing.

Kip's Grill

As has been the case for the past few years, Creede vacation week started with lunch at Kip's Grill.  There are many more meals that happen there during the week, but it is now standard to leave early enough the morning of the first day to head straight to Kip's for lunch.  They have excellent food and is, by far, our favorite in town.

Grandpa Tom took the time at lunch to teach Carter how to shoot food directly in to his mouth also.

Pool Boy

Scott and Carter were able to hit up the local pool a few times while Scott was on break.  Carter loved going to the pool this year and one of the rec centers even has a great indoor play area.  Hopefully we can get Carter started on swimming lessons soon and he can enjoy being at the pool even more.

Bishop's Castle

While everyone was at the cabin for the 4th of July, we made a trip over to Bishop's Castle.

We have been many times before, but it is always great to go see what new things have been added.  Carter was also old enough this time to actually enjoy it...albeit a little too much for me at times.  He loved climbing the huge staircase and going up high with Scott.  He had no fear of trying to swing on the walkways.  Scott was there with him, but it was still a little rough on my nerves.  Carter's favorite was definitely the dragon on top of the castle though.  Maybe some time in the future, it will have the fire breathing part going.

All American Family

We spent the 4th of July at the cabin with family again this year.  It was great to hang out with everyone and we even added some people this year.  Cousin Brian and Great Aunt Sara were able to make it for the weekend and Cousins Dave, Susan and Alexandra also came for one day.

We were able to go for a hike and enjoy the weather.  And, Carter was able to paint the deck for Grandpa Tom and Grandma Ann and convince Scott and Grandpa Tom to let him drive the 4-wheeler a few times.

Tiling Take Two

After our first weekend of laying tile at the cabin was a bust, we headed back while Tom and Ann were there to surprise them and get the job done.  Carter was excited to help and get everything going on the project.  All good skills to acquire at a young age.

As usual at the cabin, there was good food and great company.  Carter got to spend lots of time with Grandpa Tom and Grandma Ann while Scott, Sarah and I worked on the bathrooms.

We finished the job and although the perfectionist in me notices some things that could have been done better, I think the bathrooms turned out pretty well.  Now to find some time to get to enjoy it.

Farm Time with Family

Of course since we were in Kansas City, there is always a trip to the farm.  It is hard to miss.  Since all of us were still in town after the wedding, on Sunday we headed up to hang out at the farm.  Tasha and Trevor even made it up.  I know it was hard for them after the wedding being the night before, but we were so glad to get to spend a little more time with everybody.

I love that Carter has been able to spend lots of at the farm since it holds such a special place in my heart.  I hope one day he will look back at the pictures and know he got to experience it too.

This time did not disappoint and the farm brought out all kinds of fun and more memories.  All the kids, including Carter, had a blast with water guns, water balloons and so much more.

Pretty sure jumping on air mattresses, from the couch, etc, wasn't allowed when I was little.

No hands.

The 4-wheeler is always hit, but not to sure about the gator.

Good conversation.

And of course, fun with water guns.

Love it all!
