A Week Away

We hadn't been to Kansas City to visit since June and decided because of some traveling I had to do for work, it would be perfect timing to head that way.   Carter and I went to Kansas City for the weekend before I left, and then he stayed to spend time with everybody. 

It was so strange for all three of us to be in different places.  It was the first time that had happened since Carter was born.  The timing worked out perfectly though and Carter was able to stay with Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Joe while I was gone for work.  He also hung out with Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen came down to spend a little more time with him during the week.

Carter had a great time playing, locking Grandpa in the garage and just entertaining everyone. And, obviously Grandma Bonnie took all the pictures, since she isn't in any.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What a Treat

Great Grandma Helen makes some of the best food.  It is such a treat to go spend time with her and enjoy everything about it.  One of those things is her awesome pie making skills.  Grandpa Joe always says she should enter a contest, because she would definitely win.  Carter is quickly learning for himself how true this is.  We went up to the farm when we were in Kansas City recently and Carter got an early Thanksgiving present.  Grandma Helen had made a pumpkin pie and it was wonderful.  Carter loved it!

 

He also loved hanging out with Great Grandma Helen and playing endlessly with her, shooting the ping pong balls out of this gun she has. He had a GREAT time.

Sweet Tooth

Carter definitely has genes in him from his dad and his Grandpa Joe giving him a major sweet tooth. 

Great Aunt Sally had a big birthday recently and Carter was able to attend the party.  He loved it and had a great time with the balloons, big kids and of course, a cupcake.

First Haircut

Carter was in desperate need of a haircut, so we finally took him somewhere to take care of it.  The lady that cut his hair was very nice and Carter did great.  He looked so much older after his haircut it was a little sad, but he also looked pretty cute.

 

 

  

 

 

 

 

Bounce House

Oktoberfest in Highlands Ranch is definitely just a small little celebration, but perfect for Carter.  It was a gorgeous day to be outside, so we headed up to walk around and let Carter see the Dachshund Races.  The Dachshund Races only provided so much entertainment for Carter, so we found something else he could do.

There was a bounce house for younger kids only and we decided Carter could try out.  Much to some of the other kids confusion, the rules said one of us had to get in with Carter for him to be able to go.  Although a bit strange, it was definitely worth it to see how much joy it brought him.  Carter was a bit apprehensive at first, but quickly got over that and LOVED it.  He had a hard time keeping his balance, but didn't seem to mind at all.

EIGHTEEN Months Old

Carter you are eighteen months old.  It is so amazing to see you learn new things and quickly overcome hesitation and the unknown with others

At 18 months old you:
-weigh 24lbs, 1.8oz (45th percentile).
-are 31 1/4 in. tall (15th percentile).
-have a head circumference of 48.7cm (80th percentile).
-wear size 5 diapers.
-wear size 5 shoes.
-wear 24mths and 2T clothes for the most part but some 18mth pants still fit.
-still need two naps and we can tell when you haven't had that.
-are ready for bed at 7pm and even earlier on days you have been on the move all day.
-are very adventurous and aren't afraid of too much.
-if you are afraid of something you quickly get over it if we encourage you.
-still aren't talking but definitely know EVERYTHING.
-you have different inflections for some words, so we know you can do it.
-always have bumps and bruises, because you are very active.
-have a temper that is starting to show.
-don't like when things don't go your way. :)
-are very funny.
-have a great laugh.
-have some long and curly hair.
-are very interested in how everything works.
-LOVE to be outside.
-are such a great little boy and we love you.

First Trip to Elitch Gardens

Scott found some tickets on Craigslist to Elitch Gardens.  He has been wanting to go forever and we just hadn't made it yet.  We decided it would be fun to take Carter and see what he thought of the rides.  He did pretty well on most of the stuff, but his favorite, by far, was the ball room.  We are pretty sure he would have stayed in there all day if we'd let him.
