More Fun in Kansas City

Carter and I were also able to spend a couple days at Pa Joe and Grandma Bonnie's house before the next stop on our journey.  We were joining this trip with our one to California with Scott's family after.  It gave us a little extra time in Kansas City, which was great.

Carter got to spend some time with the kids Grandma Bonnie babysits and play outside in the little pool,  Grandma Bonnie also made him a picnic lunch he got to eat in the ladybug tent in the family room.  Oh, how rules change for grandkids. :)  Carter loved it.

Aunt Tasha also came over to play a little ball.  Carter's arm is a little dangerous in Grandma Bonnie and Pa Joe's house.  They definitely have more nice things sitting around than at home.

Not the greatest picture, but Carter loves him some Aunt Tasha. :)

Summer in Kansas City

At the end of June, Carter and I headed back to Kansas City to visit Pa Joe, Grandma Bonnie, Aunt Tasha and Uncle Trevor and make sure everything was going okay.  We were also able to head to the farm two days and visit Great Grandma Helen too.

Carter spent some quality time with everyone.

He got some hikes in the field and four-wheeler time with Pa Joe.

And some games, water guns and bug hunting with Great Grandma Helen.  Once again, Grandma Bonnie somehow stayed on the edge of all the pictures.

The highlight of both days at the farm, however, was when we caught a tree frog and it crawled on Carter's arm.  He was delighted!

Cabin Time and Fishing Prep

Time seems to go at warp speed anymore, and the amount of time to make it to the cabin, shortened. There were various things happening on weekends, etc., that didn't allow us to get there much. This weekend was an exception though.  Carter quickly got in the normal cabin routine and helped with Trivia Pursuit and then got the 4-wheeler up and running.  This 4-wheeler trip was special though.  Pa Tom and Carter headed to the dumpster to find a "treasure".  Carter arrived back home with a watch, that doesn't work and he loves it.  He will wear it, look at his wrist and tell you, very seriously, that it is 7 and 4 and 8.

After getting the standard cabin things (besides the dump trip) out of the way, we decided to rent a paddle boats and go out on the lake Saturday.  We wanted to give Carter a try with fishing before we headed to Creede in a few weeks.

He was very excited about being on the boat and getting to fish.  But, in true 3 year old form, sitting still was not easy for him and on a boat it is even harder for that.  He wanted to fish, row, relax, etc. All of these things happen in a different spot.  He is obviously not ready for a canoe.

He got a couple casts in before wanting to switch seats again.  This switch, however, led to the fishing pole breaking in half.

With fishing obviously over, Carter took the opportunity to do a little relaxing.

It was fun, but a shorter trip than expected.

Father's Day 2014

This guy...he is wonderful!  Carter and I couldn't ask for better.  For Father's Day this year, we headed up to Georgetown to ride the Georgetown Loop Railroad.

We arrived a little early and stopped to throw some rocks in Clear Creek first.  Scott had to keep a hold of Carter at all times, because I kept worrying about him falling in the creek.  It was rushing really fast and making me nervous.

The Georgetown Loop Railroad is a 3 mile train loop that runs between Silver Plume and Georgetown.  It was the perfect length for Carter.

Big Trucks

I headed to Kansas City the first week of June to be there while Pa Joe had surgery.  I went alone, as it wouldn't have been a good time to have a three year old along for the trip.  It was a hard trip, but it was so great knowing I didn't have to worry about things at home.

Scott and Carter always find fun stuff to do and this particular weekend was no exception.  It happened to be touch-a-truck weekend in Louisville, so they headed over on Saturday to check it out.  Carter, of course, loved it again this year and did much better on the little kids train ride.
