Pit Stop

Since, we flew in and out of Kansas City for our trip to Florida, it allowed us to make a quick stop at the farm before heading back to Colorado.  We always love getting to spend time there and seeing everyone.

One of Great Grandma Helen's neighbors, Dallas, stopped by while we were there with his little boy, Dominic.  Carter was so excited to have a new "friend".

Dominic is a little more shy than Carter, but after they both warmed up to each other they had a great time.

The next day we headed out for our drive home, and took whatever means necessary to keep everyone happy.  :)

Late Night Flight

When planning our vacation, we decided to pick an afternoon flight out of Florida to give us a little extra time on our last day.  We knew we would be getting in late to Kansas City late, but decided based on cost and time, it would be okay.  We hoped Carter would sleep.

Our cheaper flight also took us through Newark for our connection.  Not exactly on the way back but, whatever works.  When we got to Newark, we found out our flight was delayed.  The day was getting longer and longer.  We were afraid things were going to go south quickly for Carter.  We put his pajamas on before the flight boarded in hopes that he would fall asleep.

After loading on to a smaller connecting jet, Carter was asking all kinds of questions LOUDLY about what things were, what the flight attendant was doing, etc.  After finally taking off, we started a movie for him to relax and calm down.  He stayed awake the entire flight, arriving in to Kansas City close to 1am, which is crazy for a kid that still goes to bed around 7:30pm.  Pretty sure Carter and I were the only ones awake during the flight.

Tee Time

After doing the pirate cruise, we decided we hadn't had enough fun for one day.  After a nap, we went and played some mini golf and then headed over to Sanibel/Captiva for dinner.

Carter did okay golfing on the front nine, but it was a tough finish.  The busy week was starting to catch up with him.  We finished our game and headed over the bridge for some dinner.  Carter recovered well at dinner when we told him we would stop at the beach on the way back to the RV.  :)  Nothing a little shell throwing and collecting, at the shell capitol, couldn't solve.

Great fun-filled day all around.

Ahoy Matey!

Grandma Ann and Pa Tom set up a pirate cruise, on the Pieces of Eight ship, for one day while we were in Ft. Myers.  We had been telling Carter about it before even leaving for vacation.  He would walk around and say "Ahoy!".  He was excited to say the least.

The ship went out on the water and made a loop before coming back to dock.

They had face painting, and made the cutest pirate I had ever seen.

They did some activities where the kids got to pick out treasure. Notice who is front and center in the group of big kids.

Carter helped read the map to find the treasure.

There was also some limbo, which included lining up and waiting your turn.  Carter did a great job.

And, cannon shooting.

However, the highlight was the dance party.  Carter's moves are excellent and his reaction to the kid at the end makes me laugh every time.

Boston Red Sox

Ft. Myers, Florida is home to spring training for the Minnesota Twins and the Boston Red Sox.  Last time we were in Ft. Myers we went to a Twins game, so this time we hit up a Red Sox game.  Crazy enough, we needed jackets and it was pretty cool in the shade.  We checked to make sure we were still in Florida.

After sitting up in the stands, in what we thought would be perfect seats in the shade, we headed down to the outfield to find a little sun.  I am positive that had we gotten seats in the outfield originally, it would have been about 120 degrees. :)

The way the stadium was set up, many of the foul balls would go up on the roof and you could hear them roll down.  Carter was convinced he was going to catch one if he stood in the right place.

Scott decided to just buy a ball at the stadium and drop it right where Carter thought it would fall.  He did and Carter thought it was the greatest thing ever.  He had caught a ball off the roof!

After scoring a pretty nice baseball, there was a stop for a little pitching practice before watching the rest of the game.

The outfield was warmer and allowed Carter to stretch out, and pretty much take over the space around him.

We had a great day.

But, it was exhausting. :)

Bunche Beach

Shockingly, day three of vacation took us to the beach. :)  We went to a less populated beach called Bunche Beach.  It is more of a "locals" beach and it was perfect for Carter.

There were lots of shells for him to inspect, sand to move, castles to build and things to find.

There was time to bury feet.

And, two of the cutest footprints on the beach.

He loved it!
