Halloween 2013

Scott's fall break landed on Halloween this year.  We took advantage of it and headed to Kansas City.

We were able to spend time with family and trick or treat with Carter's future wife, Bridget.  Her little sister, Emily, tagged along. :)  They all looked pretty cute together though.  Grandpa Joe, Grandma Bonnie and Aunt Tasha trick or treated with us also.  Aunt Tasha helped with trick or treating.

We need to work on the concept of strangers though and not just going in to people's houses...even if they have candy.

The boys and their kiddos.

It was a great weekend.  What trip to Kansas City would be complete without some animal catch and release though?  Grandpa Joe had caught an opossum and he and Carter took it to the park to release it.  Carter loved it...the opossum, not so much.

Let the Good Times Roll

One of the groups at Scott's school had a fundraiser at a local skating rink.  We thought it would be fun to take Carter and let him try it out.  It was like a blast from the past walking in and seeing the exact same kind of carpet that existed when we used to go in grade school.  Apparently it is still the go to carpet for skating rinks.

Carter loved roller skating and was actually really good at it.  They had skates for little kids that only rolled forward, so he was out on the floor and off.  Scott and I both skated too and although it took a little bit to get the hang of it again, we both did pretty well and no broken bones occurred.

The mugshot pictures taken earlier were for this event and Carter and Scott were picked to be in jail.  Carter wasn't very happy about being taken off the skating rink but when he found out there were brownies in jail, he was okay with it.

Carvin' Pumpkins

A couple of the pumpkins we brought home from 'the patch', made it to the carving table.  Carter got right in the mix and cleaned out the insides...approximately two seeds at a time.  Then he helped carve them and decorate them.  His favorite part was the candles in them, however we failed to get a picture of that.

Trick or Treat Street

The events center in Broomfield held a trick or treat "street" for kids the weekend before Halloween. We figured since Carter wanted to wear his costume every day since it arrived at the house, we would take him to the trick or treat street to get full use out of it.

It was at 11am.  Perfect for Carter.  They had crafts, carnival games to play and then you could walk to each of the suites where businesses had stuff set up and handed out candy.  Carter LOVED the carnival games (which were all free, thankfully, because he would have stayed there all day) and loaded up on candy.

This guy looks slightly concerned about Carter's crossbow abilities.

This was post event already enjoying his candy.

Got Bail?

Scott and Carter got in to a little bit of trouble recently.  Carter has on his prison issued Cars PJs and Scott is not very happy about Carter ratting him out.

Scott had a fundraiser for school and he and/or Carter could get put in jail.  This was prep for that event.

The Patch

We took Carter to the Pumpkin Patch again this year.  He was so excited to go and kept telling us he was going to "The Patch".  Aunt Sarah and Aunt Sally went with us also.  We went right when it opened because the place gets pretty busy.  It was chilly the morning we went, but Carter didn't seem to mind.  He got to do a lot of things while we were there and loved it.

He checked out the animals and the signs you could stick your head through.

We checked out the hay bales you could climb on, jump on and run around.

They had a giant ball to play with, but it only lasted a couple minutes before it knocked Carter over and he was done with that.  And, a slide you could go down with your dad...at least for some kids.

There was a corn maze.  Carter was so excited about all the "corn here", that we just kept making him say it because he sounded like he was from the country.

He liked to take shortcuts though.

And, finally we headed to "the patch".  We picked out three pumpkins, but it was not a decision Carter came by easily.

Carter kept telling me he needed a little one, so we had to pick up a couple little ones on our way out.

I am so mad this picture is blurry!  But, it is still pretty cute.

Speech Therapy Beginnings

Speech therapy has begun and it is a great playtime for Carter.  We went the first day and I decided it would be better if he was there by himself, so I was not a distraction.  We can sit in the adjacent room and watch and listen through one way glass.  I told Carter I would be back in a little bit and in true Carter fashion, he wasn't the least bit worried, looked at me and said "Bye, Mom".  He did great and we are excited to get this going to help him.

Halloween Prep

Halloween is one of Scott's favorite holidays and it is quickly becoming the same for Carter.  He couldn't wait to get outside and help Scott put out the Halloween decorations.

Donuts!

Not sure what we were doing this day but Carter obviously had a great time.  He got to stand up in Aunt Sarah's sunroof and he also got one of his favorite foods...DONUTS!  Not sure who's great idea it was, however, to make those powdered sugar donuts. :)
