Grandpa Tom also got Carter some Pop Rocks. We were all expecting it to be entertaining when they started going off in Carter's mouth, but he loved them and just kept showing everyone how they popped.

Pearl Street
While everyone was in town for the Anniversary party, we headed to Boulder to enjoy the beautiful weather and have some lunch. The highlight for Carter, however, was the water fountain you could run through. We had to have a talk though about slowing down and not running in to other kids. He was SOAKED and loved it.

40 Years = Party Time
Grandpa Tom and Grandma Ann celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this summer. We had an anniversary party at the house for them. Lots of people were able to make it and even Uncle Steve and Liana came in for the party. Carter was in heaven and definitely made sure everyone played with him
Carter's arm is a little too good though and while playing with a few of the toys, they were lost to the neighbors yards. I guess we should get to know the neighbors a little better if we will be fetching toys from their yards.

Decisions
August 20th brought a trip to see Dr. Dan, our pediatrician. This trip was by choice though. Scott and I decided to take Carter in for a discussion and referral about his speech. Although he says some things, it isn't very much and the things he tries to say are hard to understand. So, we decided to take him in. Dr. Dan agreed that he wasn't saying as much as he probably should be and we could wait and see what happens or take him to get evaluated. We decided it wouldn't hurt to have a speech evaluation and promptly got on getting that scheduled. More on that to come.
As you can see though, Carter was pretty upset about being at the doctor. :)

Nebraska Roots
With Scott being born in Nebraska, it is only fitting that Carter's favorite vegetable is corn. He loves to eat it straight from the ear with the holders added.

Go-Karts and Mini Golf
Scott's school had a back to school family thing for the teachers. It took place at a Go-Kart and Mini Golf place right by the house. The three of us headed over after work and Carter was in heaven. He really enjoyed playing mini golf, but is more of a nine hole golfer than eighteen. True to form though, he is definitely a sports kid.
After he got his fill of golf, we headed to the go-karts. We weren't sure if he was going to be tall enough but, thankfully, positioning his hat on his head just right, made him tall enough. He was so little in the go-kart but he didn't care. It was actually hard to get a picture of him because he was not easy to see. He would end a ride and then automatically ask to go again. Good thing it was one price for unlimited rides that day.
The party ended with a free ice cream for everyone. Carter didn't feel that just having his own was good enough though, so he had to try out Scott's as well.

Potty time
Not the clearest picture which is probably a good thing. Carter won't be happy about it one day. But, seeing as how I use the blog as a baby book in a sense, it has to be included. We went to Target one day and decided to grab a potty seat. Carter was with us and so excited about the purchase. The minute we walked in the door he wanted to try it out. It has a button on it that makes a car revving sound. Obviously, he is all about that. He sat there for a little bit, but never actually went to the bathroom. It was just exciting to have a new thing just for him. We aren't really pushing it, so hopefully he will think it is a good thing before he starts high school and sees that no one else is really wearing diapers.

The Westminster Faire
Apparently when you live in the northern suburbs of Denver, you go to Faires instead of Fairs. Westminster isn't the only city that takes part in that. No matter what it was called though, we took Carter out to see what it was all about.
They had lots of booths and a few things for Carter to do. We weren't there very long because it was pretty warm, but managed to get in a few things.
The fireman were there with an obstacle course. Carter and Scott made it through and Carter put out the fire and saved the victim.
There was a face painting booth that we waited and waited in line for because there was only one lady and she wasn't the fastest face painter ever. When it was finally Carter's turn, we opted for something on his arm so he could see and it would be fast. He picked a snake, sat patiently while she applied it and was so proud of it afterward.

Denver Children's Museum
I took to a day off to experience some of the fun Carter was having with everyone else. We decided to check out the Children's Museum. It was excellent and Carter loved it! They have different areas sectioned off in the "museum". It isn't really a museum because everything is hands on and the kids are allowed to play with everything. Carter went from room to room doing all of the activities.
The first stop was the firehouse, complete with a fire engine to climb on.
Next, the train room.

Then painting in the art room (complete with a little girl sitting near by that decided to paint her face).
Some grocery shopping and check out at the Whole Foods.
Working on some pets in the veterinarian room.
Shooting off some personally made paper rockets.
The bubble room. We went to this room twice because Carter refused to wear the goggles the first time around with disastrous results. After his eyes recovered (the bubbles have soap in them to make them vapor filled), we headed back in and Carter agreed to wear the goggles the second time. Potential injury tends to warrant a little more rule following...sometimes.
The water area outside where you could shoot water up to 20-30 feet in the air.
And, the kinetics room.
There were also a couple other areas, but a post can only be so long. Carter loved it and we will definitely be back.

The Zoo Crew
Day Two of the fun involved a trip to the zoo. Carter loves it there and Grandpa Tom, Grandma Ann, Scott and Carter had a great day for it. Carter made sure to show Grandpa and Grandma all the animals.
I think Carter told them they had to let him see real animals after this. :)

Training Camp 2013
Grandpa Tom and Grandma Ann were in Denver for about a week in August and many stops were on the list for the week of things to do with Carter.
Carter's first stop (unfortunately for Mom) was a trip to Broncos training camp with Grandma Ann and Dad. From the pictures I received while working, Carter looked like he handled it pretty well.
He watched practiced.

Tried to get Peyton Manning to throw him the ball, unsuccessfully, I might add. Manning didn't know what kind of receiver he was missing out on. :)
Told the kickers where they needed to aim.
And, because sitting and watching practice can only last so long, there was also some rolling down hills and just general cuteness.
