Birthday Practice

For my birthday, I got a beautiful flower arrangement shaped like a cake.  It had candles that came with it and Carter thought it was a great end to dinner every night to blow them out at least two of three times.  He wants to be fully prepared for his birthday.  It is a good thing no one needed to eat the cake because there was a little spit with it.

TWENTY-THREE Months

Carter you are only a month away from two and we can't even believe it.  Your personality comes out more and every day.  We love to watch what you will do or say next.

Carter at 23 months you:

-want to do lots of things by yourself.  You will let us help sometimes after you have tried and few times and we ask.
-are definitely starting to act like a 2 year old.
-are finally starting to grow again.  It seems like you have been the same for a while now.
-are saying more words we can understand but not a ton
-still need a haircut
-want to have ice in your drinks and will tell us "ice, ice" until we get it.
-follow directions well...when you want to.
-very adamant pronunciation of yes.
-get excited about daycare/school.
-would wear your socks with sports things on them every day.
-still take two naps and go to bed at 7pm.
-you keep us busy and entertained.

Butterfly Pavilion

Carter and I came back from Kansas City on Sunday and still had Monday off before going back to work.  Scott and I decided to take Carter to the Butterfly Pavilion.  It is really close to the new house.

Carter loved it and was all about the bugs.  He ran from display to display checking everything out.  They also had a touch tank for horseshoe crabs.  Carter was a pro since he had already done it before at the aquarium.  He had no fear of any of it and even got right up close to check out Rosie the tarantula, while Scott held it.

Fun in Kansas City

Over President's Day weekend, Carter and I took a trip to Kansas City to have a Bridal Shower for Aunt Tasha.  It was a great weekend.

Carter was able to hang out with Grandpa Joe while the shower was going on and they had quite the time.  Grandpa Joe put Carter in a classy stocking cap, that was a little big and had to be rolled, to go feed the geese at the park.  He also changed Carter's diaper while I was gone (something he probably hasn't done in a VERY long time) and put it on very interestingly. :)  Carter wasn't concerned about it at all.

Carter also scored some helium balloons from the shower, which he loved, got to do some reading with Grandpa Joe and Great Grandma Helen and play with Grandma Bonnie.

It was too short as always, but definitely great to see Great Grandma Helen, Grandma Bonnie, Aunt Heidi and Aunt Tasha, in addition to Grandpa Joe.

Grady's Birthday

Cousin Grady turned three and he had a great birthday party at Home Depot.  Carter got his own work apron, hard hat and tools to make his project.  He made a box to hold Valentines.  He loved it!  It also helped that there were birthday donuts and cupcakes to eat.
