Party of Three

It was a party of three this year for New Year's Eve.  We had dinner at home, got Carter some poppers (that drove Eddie crazy) and just hung out.  It was a pretty low key night, but nice not to have to be on the road and we could go to bed whenever we wanted.  : )  Not the greatest picture, but the facial expressions are great.

Urban Camping

During break, Scott and Carter took a father son trip to Bass Pro Shop.  Carter loved it.  He checked out the giant fish and tried out some camping equipment.  I think we are either going to have to try camping this summer, or set him up a make shift indoor campsite.  Either way, I think he would be thrilled.

Christmas #2

Although we returned from KC on Christmas night, Christmas was not over at our house.  The next day we opened Christmas gifts from Grandpa Tom, Grandma Ann and Uncle Steve.  We loaded up on cars this Christmas and Carter couldn't be happier.

Christmas Day

We were in Kansas City for Christmas this year.  Great Grandma Helen came down to spend the day with us at Grandpa Joe's and Grandma Bonnie's.  Aunt Tasha and Uncle Trevor also came over for a little bit before heading to their next stop.  Carter got lots of great things and we had a great time.

We flew back to Denver Christmas night on a packed flight.  We had to have some more angel food cake at the airport. :)

Chapstick

If you live in Colorado, Chapstick is a necessity for everyone.  Carter is no exception.  Love this pic.

Great Grandma's Angel Food Cake

We went up to Great Grandma Helen's for an early Christmas while the Berner's were in town and Carter's favorite part was definitely the angel food cake.  He couldn't get enough of it, along with all the other wonderful food she cooked too.  When Carter wasn't eating, he could be found hanging close to his cousins.  He had a great time with them.

Fohawk

While we were in KC for Christmas we decided that Carter's hair was getting a little shaggy.  We made a quick stop by Great Clips on the way up to grandma's to fix that situation.  We had a very good, very fast stylist that did a great job on Carter's hair.  He looked so cute when she finished and a little older.

Historic Train Ride

While we were in Kansas City for Christmas we headed to Union Station to look at all the train displays.  It also gave Carter a chance to ride on a little piece of history.

For the holiday season, the Historic Jones Store train was in Union Station for kids to ride.  We thought this would be fun for Carter, not just because it was a train, but because both his Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Joe both rode it when they were little too.

Fortunately, Carter had his cousins there to help him out and Ella took one for the team.  She was able to ride with him, with her long legs completely folded up, and he loved it.

He also loved all the model train displays he got to see and hanging out with family. It was a great day.

TWENTY-ONE Months Old

Carter you are 21 months.  At 21 months you:

-are definitely-getting more independent, but will let us help you with things.
-are starting to test the limits of certain things we tell you
-are snuggly at night and we love it.
-love to read.
-love fruit.
-love to fix things with your tools.  Your crescent wrench is one of your favorites.
-are a little OCD about things.  Mom is not complaining.
-need a haircut.
-give everyone high fives, hugs, kisses, etc.  If one person gets one, everybody gets one.

As usual, we love you so much.  No pictures this month, they are all in with the Christmas posts.

Visiting Santa Claus

We decided to go to Larimer Square this year to visit Santa Claus.  We planned on quickly seeing Santa Claus and then having lunch.  When we got there we were pleasantly surprised to see the line wasn't very long.  Little did we know, it was the slowest moving line ever.  Mrs. Claus was a little longwinded and all the other kids had a lot more to tell Santa Claus than Carter did.  When we finally made it to Santa, Carter was scared at first, but did end up warming up to him a little when it was discovered he had bells.

Gap Tooth Christmas

Christmas decorations were at a minimum this year since we had just moved in.  We decided to go with just the essentials and next year plan to do a little more.  We may have to invest in a few more things, but this year it was perfect.

After getting some decorations and the Christmas tree up (with the help of onsite management),

we tried to get some pictures of Carter for our card this year.  After taking MANY shots we got a handful that worked, including one with the cutest little gap tooth kid we know.

A Star is Born

The weekend after we moved in to the house, Broomfield had their annual Christmas tree lighting.  Part of the show was Santa Claus arriving by helicopter.  Times have obviously changed for Santa Claus.

Although it was cold, we decided it would probably be something Carter would love.  We weren't there very long, but did get to watch the tree lighting and the helicopter come in and take back off.

It also led to Carter getting his picture taken by the local paper and making the online version.  Pretty good night.

New House

We finally got to move in to our new house and we love it.  Our first morning there required some creative seating, a box of dry cereal and cartoons set up before any more unpacking could be done.

By the third evening, we at least had something to sit on and relax before bed, while watching our floor TV.
