Poor Sick Kid

After traveling all over for Thanksgiving and staying in many different places before moving, I think Carter's little body picked up lots of new germs.  The last couple days before moving in to the new house, Carter came down with croup.  It didn't last too long and he fought it off like a champ, but he was pretty sad with sick little eyes while he had it.

Dyin' to see Charles Bent

The last stop on our Thanksgiving vacation was a night in Santa Fe. It was half way and, luckily for us, one of Scott's favortie historical figures is buried there. We made a quick stop at the cemetary to see Mr. Charles Bent's grave.   We definitely need to go back and spend some more time in Santa Fe.

Phoenix Zoo

Our last day in Phoenix, we decided to take Carter to the zoo before hopping in the car and starting the drive back to Denver.  Grandma Ann went with us for Carter's first ever zoo trip.  He loved it.  He got to pet sting rays, get up close and personal with some monkeys and see lots of animals.  One of his favorite animals he saw that day was a chicken.  We probably could have just gone to a petting zoo for that. :)

One of his other favorite stops at the zoo was the reptile house.  He was very excited about the snakes, turtles, etc.  I have no doubt he will talk Scott in to getting him one when he gets a little older.

Park Fun

The weather in Phoenix was gorgeous, and even a little hot, while we were there.  We took total advantage of that and headed to the park one day.  Carter had a great time.

Scott had fun too.

Big Red

Carter helped support the family team while in Arizona.

Thanksgiving

As noted earlier, we spent Thanksgiving this year in Phoenix with the Troy side of the family.  We got to spend great time with family that we definitely don't get to see enough.  Carter thoroughly enjoyed the added attention he got and the great food!

There also may or may not have been an excess of Redi Whip consumed for dessert which caused Carter to run circles around the kitchen island.  Can you tell who was helping Carter satisfy his sweet tooth? :)

TWENTY Months Old

Carter you turned twenty months old on Thanksgiving while we were in Arizona this year.  It is still amazing to watch you grow, learn and explore.  You seem to be doing a lot of that lately.

At 20 months you:

-are still very attached to your binky, blanket and lion.
-use your finger to direct everyone to what you need them to do.
-still only have a few words that you say.
-don't really need to talk because you can convince everyone to do things for you without.
-started a new daycare and didn't think twice about it.  You were there two days this week and already making yourself at home.
-are very social.
-are very inquisitive about anything new.
-still love any kind of ball.
-give the best eskimo kisses.
-have dealt with sleeping in MANY different places while we are moving GREAT!
-are a lot of fun and definitely entertaining.

We love you.

Standing on the Corner in Winslow, AZ

We headed to Arizona for Thanksgiving this year and decided it would be more cost effective to drive.  Aunt Sarah traveled with us.  We took two days to do the drive each way and stopped in Albuquerque, NM on the way down and Santa Fe, NM on the way back.  We got a portable DVD player before we left and it definitely helped with the drive.  Carter did better than any of us expected.  He didn't really want to sleep in the car, but it still worked out okay.  It helped that there was someone in the backseat with him.

On our drive down we also made a stop in Winslow, Arizona, so Carter could stand on the corner just like the song says.  I think Scott was more excited than Carter to stop though. :)

More, but Definitely Better, Temporary Living

The last two weeks of our time in between moving out and moving in was spent at Aunt Gayla and Uncle Dan's house.  We could not have been more greatful.  It was wonderful!  Not only was the space perfect for us and the hospitality more than we could have ever asked for, it was great to get to spend time with them.  Their house backs to a greenbelt and they have a playground right across the street.  Carter loved that part.  We can't wait to be closer to them and to cousins after moving.

Sad Day

Grammy Lu started watching Carter when he was about 5 months old.  He was there until it was time to move to the new house.  The new house wasn't going to be close enough for Grammy Lu to continue to watch Carter.  We were all very sad on his last day there.  Carter loved it there and the decision to send him somewhere new was not an easy one.  We are definitely going to keep in touch though, and make sure to visit.

For Hire

Proper hard hat, hydration and equipment required when fixing anything lately.  If anyone knows of someone needing a handyman, we know just the guy.

Lunch Date

Since I had Veteran's Day off and Grammy Lu's was closed too, Carter and I got to spend the day together.  It was a very low key day that included hanging out and a lunch date at Chick-Fil-A with a cute little banged up boy.  His energy and excitement lead to many bumps and bruises these days.

Cuteness!

Grandma Ann came and stayed with Carter for a few days while Grammy Lu was out of town.  Even though conditions weren't ideal in the extended stay, they had a great time together.  Carter showed Grandma his love of airplanes, by pointing them out every time he heard them, and his ongoing love for his lion, binky and blanket.

Parks and Recreation

One plus to staying at the particular Homestead Suites we picked, was there was an awesome park close by.  We only made it a couple times, but Carter had a blast.  They had a bunch of different slides and things for him to climb.  He loved it.  Too bad we won't be close to that all the time, but I am sure we can find something just as good or better up north.
