We went back to the old neighborhood to trick or treat with the neighbors. Carter wasn't quite sure about going up to strange houses initially, but after he found out he got candy in his bucket, he loved it. Grandma Ann and Sarah came by to trick or treat with us this year too. Carter had a great time and looked pretty cute as a little skeleton also.

Bone Zone
Halloween this year was definitely different than last. Carter loved everything about it. We had a small freak out at the Halloween store when we stopped by one day. One of the animatronic decorations popped up, caught him by surprise and scared him. But, we worked with him that all that stuff was just funny and he quickly recovered and couldn't get enough of it.

Home Sweet Homestead
...Or not. Although we searched for a new house for MONTHS, we didn't find one we liked and go under contract until October 19th. This meant we have a gap of a little over a month before we took possession of the new house. Due to this, we had some temporary living arrangements. Our first stop was a "classy" extended stay hotel. It was not horrible and had a bedroom for Carter to sleep in, which was what we needed, but definitely not great. It served the purpose but we were definitely glad we only had to stay for a short time.

Moving Out
Our last days in our house on Cove Creek Drive were bitter sweet. The house definitely carries memories for us which made it hard to leave. It was our first house and we put a lot of sweat in to making it better. We had great neighbors, that we will miss living near. And, it was where we brought Carter home from the hospital. It is definitely a house that will hold a special place in our heart. October 27th was our last day there.
Although Carter tried to help with packing, by throwing anything around him in a box, we got it done and the pictures below are what things looked like for our last few days. Carter had a great time running and spinning all over the place, since there was no furniture. His favorite part however was definitely the air mattress. He loved plopping down on it with a pillow and pointing for one of us to lay next to him and watch a show.

NINETEEN Months Old
Carter you are 19 months old. And, because everything has been so crazy in life lately preparing to move, we didn't get any pictures on this day. So, we just have some things you have been doing at this age.
At 19 months you:
-are still not talking but you are picking up more and more words that you know.
-want to be outside all the time.
-love all the Halloween decorations.
-are very busy.
-have been "helping" pack to move.
-love your shoes.
-are definitely wanting to do more things on your own.
-are turning in to a little boy and don't have much baby-ness anymore.
We love you and love seeing you change and grow.

A Week Away
We hadn't been to Kansas City to visit since June and decided because of some traveling I had to do for work, it would be perfect timing to head that way. Carter and I went to Kansas City for the weekend before I left, and then he stayed to spend time with everybody.
It was so strange for all three of us to be in different places. It was the first time that had happened since Carter was born. The timing worked out perfectly though and Carter was able to stay with Grandma Bonnie and Grandpa Joe while I was gone for work. He also hung out with Aunt Tasha and Great Grandma Helen came down to spend a little more time with him during the week.
Carter had a great time playing, locking Grandpa in the garage and just entertaining everyone. And, obviously Grandma Bonnie took all the pictures, since she isn't in any.

What a Treat
Great Grandma Helen makes some of the best food. It is such a treat to go spend time with her and enjoy everything about it. One of those things is her awesome pie making skills. Grandpa Joe always says she should enter a contest, because she would definitely win. Carter is quickly learning for himself how true this is. We went up to the farm when we were in Kansas City recently and Carter got an early Thanksgiving present. Grandma Helen had made a pumpkin pie and it was wonderful. Carter loved it!
He also loved hanging out with Great Grandma Helen and playing endlessly with her, shooting the ping pong balls out of this gun she has. He had a GREAT time.

Sweet Tooth
Carter definitely has genes in him from his dad and his Grandpa Joe giving him a major sweet tooth.
Great Aunt Sally had a big birthday recently and Carter was able to attend the party. He loved it and had a great time with the balloons, big kids and of course, a cupcake.
